WILLS & TRUSTS
The Most Unusual Family Tree
If you think your family has problems, consider the marriage mayhem created when 76-year-old Bill Baker of London wed Edna Harvey. She happened to be his granddaughter’s husband’s mother. Baker’s granddaughter Lynn reports, "My mother-in-law is now my step-grandmother, my grandfather is now my stepfather-in-law, my mom is my sister-in-law, and my brother is my nephew. Crazier yet is now I’m married to my uncle and my own children are my cousins!” (Source: Campus Life). Now you might not have a family tree like that, but if you’re like most families, there is an even greater potential for confusion on the horizon for your family. It happens when Mom and Dad pass away without a simple Estate Plan to pass along their values and valuables to the next generation. Fortunately, this headache can be avoided by setting up one place for all the documents your family will need when the time comes – such as your Will, financial statements, and a Legacy Love Letter where you pass along your deeply held values with loved ones. We trust that by taking this step, you will experience the truth that “God is not a God of confusion, but of peace.” (1 Corinthians 14:33)
